A little gift for Mother’s Day…

May 12, 2008

Okay…so I’m a day late, but I had good intentions (that counts for something, right?)! It’s been over a month since I’ve updated the blog and thought it was about time to get started again. I’ve been busy with the wonderful DID class over at Jessica Sprague…and baseball games, lacrosse games, 3 May birthdays (and Mother’s Day), fundraising functions, bridal showers, and so on! It’s all fun stuff and I love every bit of it, but it just takes time. And what better way to get back into the swing of things then with a little freebie gift for you.

Jessica had provided templates and a gorgeous mini-kit to use in the quote challenge for the DID class and this is what I created using the papers and embellishments from her kit. I only added the photos (thanks to Mother Nature for providing the flowers and critters) and found the quotes to use. If you’d like, you can download the 12×12 LO’s (just click on the 4shared link under the LO’s) and then use your paper cutter to divided each page into 4 6×6 squares. The title page (not shown) has 4 seperate covers, in case you’d like to give these as a gift to any Gardener/Nature lovers you may know. I made this for my Mom for Mother’s Day using my awesome new Bind-it-all machine…since she is the ultimate nature lover/gardener!

Enjoy! (and Liv, I know I owe you a posting for my “tag”)!!!

For all of us who love to be organized…

December 20, 2007

Although it often seems like a losing battle,  I found a great solution to one of my “clutter zones”!  I don’t know about you, but in our family we have 4 cell phones, 4 ipods, and 1 blackberry (with the hopes of adding an iPhone one of these days) and that translates into a mess of  tangled cords plugged in throughout the house.   The solution that I’m hoping will work is a “charging station valet”!

They come in various styles from contemporary to casual to traditional and can be found in a wide range of colors and prices.  I’ve seen them at Brookstone, Sharper Image, Pottery Barn, Levenger and the one from Frontgate that is pictured below  (don’t tell my DH, but he’s getting one for Christmas)!

I”d love to hear if you have any great organizational tips or cool gift ideas…

On your mark…get set…SHOP!

November 24, 2007

Now that Thanksgiving is over and maybe we’ve gained a pound or two…it’s time to start Christmas shopping to work some of that turkey, stuffing & apple pie off!  I think shopping is great excercise, even if you do it from behind a computer screen (just get up & run in place for a minute or so, okay maybe not)!  Anyway, one of the best things about shopping is when you can save some $.  Probably most of you know this already, but when I took my Mom to some stores earlier this week it was news to her…so I thought I’d pass this along.  She didn’t know that you could use JoAnn Fabrics coupons at Michaels and that you could use Linens-n-Things coupons at Bed, Bath  Beyond!  Some stores will let you use their competitors coupons to get the discounts, so it can’t hurt to ask them.

I’m always looking for gift ideas and it seems like alot of people love to get gift cards.  At my local food store they always have a rack of various gift certificates you can buy to stores like Nordstroms, Old Navy, KMart, Best Buy, etc..  Now don’t get me wrong, they are all great stores but nothing really unusual.  However, I did see a couple of gift cards that I thought were just a little bit different and would be great to give especially to any guys in your family that are hard to shop for.  They had gift cards to,, and even Ebay!!!
